The seventh season of the Pune Fashion Week ended on a quite attention-grabbing note on Sunday, 24th December. The three-day extravaganza of style and vogue was high on luxury, elegance, and grandeur and was attended by the crème de la crème of the city.
The most overwhelming part of the Luxury Expo had to be the Fashionable Bharat Pavilion, a platform for handicrafts, Indian indigenous products and traditional textiles from all over the country, to broaden its horizons and truly capture the essence of Bharat. And the Fashion Knowledge Series added to the buzz factor immediately. Some notable personalities in the attendance included Hollywood designer Danielle Pettee, celebrity designer Nivedita Saboo, and Vikram Kotnis from Amura Technologies.
PFW Season 7 aimed at making Pune fashionable with a social cause and had a Super Bike Rally on 20th December supported by a biker community called BOLT (Bikers of Low Tolerance) for road safety. Moreover, in association with SMILE foundation, day 1 of the fashion week also witnessed a charity walk by the ladies. The funds raised through this were donated for the education of 10 girl children for a year.
In a lead-up to the exuberant show, students of INIFD showcased their unisex designs with bold motifs and floral prints, followed by a combined show by Sharad Ragahv and Ginny Wadhwa. Their collections were all peppered with experimental themes and were inspired by Batik. Rina ended the day 1 with collection of BIJOUS –filled with imaginative backstory. The highlight of follow-up day was Shikha Kothari’s PINK collection aimed at creating awareness about the girl child, the bitter truth of unequal sexual ratio of our country and empowering the feminine spirit of strength, freedom and dignity.
The collection at the final day showed a distortion look for A/W 2018. The meeting of such disproportionate and asymmetric garments was created by the MIT students. Alongside algorithms, their “cut to suit” collection took a more experimental and individual approach to the design work of tailoring. The second sequence of the show saw “Mom & Me” collection by Kirti Aggarwal. The showstopper was Nia Sharma, the Asia’s second sexiest woman alive along with designer’s daughter.
The pre-finale saw Sanjay Suri and model, actress & dancer Nora Fatehi in Rohit Kamra’s ethnic wear collection walking down the runway. The finale was graced with nothing less than Nivedita Saboo’s two collections. First- the bold and experimental superhero inspired “Interstellar –An ode to the superhero within”, dedicated to nurturing and celebrating the superhero in all of us. Second- the bridal collection peppered with metallic designs complexed with beautiful fabrics.
This event was beyond successful in #MakingPuneFashionable.
